Mr. Earhart, Pound for Pound and Gartnavel: 2017

Mr. Earhart takes in The Golden Age of Flight as Amelia Earhart navigates her place among a burgeoning community of female pilots while contending with her domineering husband-manager George Putnam. Through extended livestream and original music, Mr. Earhart explores the implications of Earhart’s infamous disappearance and her status as a feminist icon.

Pound for Pound is a short audio-play that centres around the mysterious real life meetings between poets Diane Di Prima and Ezra Pound during his incarceration at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, eavesdropping on their conversations to examine the tenuous boundary between art and life and the legacy of anti-fascist art practice.

In 1850s Glasgow, Lucy Fletcher takes up a Governess position at Gartnavel Asylum but soon finds her life starting to unravel as her empathy comes up against the confines of the institution. With a text by Sìne Harris based on her ancestor’s childhood diaries, which recount growing up in the asylum as the daughter of its renowned director, and set to a live synth-rock score, Gartnavel traces the beginnings of Scottish psychiatry and its implications for the health of the nation.
